The Most Misunderstood Part of Branding, According to Kaila!
Kaila has talked a lot about how branding and marketing are often confused, and they couldn’t be more different. She has people ask her to manage their social media, when she offers branding services. They aren’t the same!
For her, branding is the visual storytelling aspect. Marketing utilizes channels like social media to reach your audience, but branding is how you show up. There should be a cohesive feeling and look across all the touchpoints and journey the customer goes on.
Think about the emotion and impact you want to leave. People buy emotion, not products or services. We all started our businesses for a reason. We have story to tell and we want to make sure that’s coming across through our brand. Think about your audience and your vibe, and how they intersect. That’s your brand and your brand story. Once you have the visual tools to use, that’s when marketing comes into play. You first have to start with fundamentally understanding your brand and audience.
